History of the Curly Coated Retriever Club of America

The Curly Coated Retriever Club of America (the CCRCA) was formed in 1979. The CCRCA is officially recognized by the American Kennel Club as the parent club of the breed. Parent clubs represent breeders/owners/lovers of a single breed. The CCRCA holds a national specialty conformation show, an annual hunt test, retrieving working tests, and agility/obedience competitions. The AKC approves only one national club for each breed.

I am a charter member of the CCRCA and often people ask about club history. Posts on this page will be about CCRCCA history.

Most of the material here comes from the first Curly Coated Retriever yearbook I published in 1997.

First CCRCA

Here is the article I wrote for the first curly coated retriever yearbook about the first CCRCA meeting .

The other pages here are the listings of the dogs shown at the first national supported entry of  curlies (considered the first national specialty.
